Press Release – Hotel Managers Group Scores as Asset Manager
San Diego, CA – June 9, 2010 – Howard Johnson Inn, Rocklin, CA, O’Cairns Inn, Lompoc, CA and the Mission Valley Resort, San Diego, CA have all engaged Hotel Managers Group as asset manager/operator of the three independently owned hotels.
Hotel Managers Group (HMG) is a highly regarded, experienced manager and developer of branded hotels in the Western United States. According to HMG’s Senior Vice President, Alan Bowles, HMG introduced a novel asset management service which appeals to owners not experienced in operating their hotels in distressed markets such as the industry is currently facing.
Bowles said: “It’s surprising how many owners entered the industry several years back under robust market conditions and not appreciating what is necessary to keep hotels solvent in distressed times as we are now experiencing.”
HMG is offering a consulting program designed to audit a hotel physically and operationally with a primary focus on the hotel’s strategic positioning and marketing plans. HMG personnel, led by CEO Joel Biggs and Bowles, format a report complete with targeted recommendations designed to correct operational and marketing deficiencies resulting in improved revenues and profit.
Randy McDougal, owner of the O’Cairns Inn said: “Our family has enjoyed success in the hotel business, however it is not our core competency and surviving in a down economy is a job for professional hotel managers. We feel that HMG’s program fit our needs and it was a comfortable fit with our long range ownership goals. They are quality people who get the job done at a reasonable price and terms.”
HMG is a California based company with over 25 years experience managing hotels, motels, resorts and a variety of hospitality assets for lenders, receivers and independent owners.

With offices in San Diego (headquarters), Los Angeles and Las Vegas, HMG enjoys a track record of 25 years operating over 60 hospitality assets throughout the eleven Western States and beyond.
Bowles will oversee the firm’s asset management and consulting program offered to hotel owners confronted with marketing and economic challenges which require expert operations help necessary to avoid becoming a “troubled asset.” “We believe hotels of every description are facing very challenging circumstances and that only the strong operators will survive”, said Chairman and Co-CEO Jack Giacomini. HMG’s team of experts will remain available to ensure complete implementation and follow up.
“Lenders, owners and receivers have successfully implemented our plans and now we believe owners can avail our services to preempt becoming a troubled asset which may result in losing control of their hotel,” said Bowles.
